East Stroudsburg to Ogunquit: A Road Trip to Remember

SEPTEMBER 29, 2024

After an amazing week in East Stroudsburg, PA, Paloma and I packed up and made our way to Ogunquit, ME. But before I get ahead of myself, let me rewind to our stay in East Stroudsburg.

Eastern Pennsylvania

Tucked away in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, East Stroudsburg offered everything we needed for a perfect week of nature and relaxation. The remote setting, with its towering trees and serene rivers, immediately made us feel at peace. We spent hours just soaking in the natural beauty around us.

One of the highlights of our time there was hiking Mount Tammany. The trail was challenging, but the views from the top were absolutely worth it. Looking out over the Delaware Water Gap, surrounded by vibrant greenery, it felt like we were in another world. And after the hike, we rewarded ourselves with some of the best pie I’ve ever had at the Apple Pie Bakery. A small, unassuming spot in Delaware Gap, their pies are nothing short of legendary.

Of course, we couldn’t resist exploring East Stroudsburg’s dive bars. We found some hidden gems serving amazing craft beers, and the atmosphere was always friendly. It felt like the perfect way to unwind after our hikes and drives, soaking in the local vibe. You know I had to get a philly cheese steak sandwich.

Heading Further East

After a week of rejuvenation, it was time to head east to Maine. The drive was spectacular—autumn was just starting to show itself, with the leaves on the trees starting to turn vibrant shades of orange and red. It was one of those drives where every twist in the road reveals a new, breathtaking view.

When we arrived in Ogunquit, we were greeted by the charming coastal beauty of the town. Our first order of business? My first-ever lobster roll. Yes, it was expensive, but after that first bite, I understood why. Fresh, tender lobster meat, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted roll—it was everything I had imagined and more.

When I learned we are in Maine! Lol

We also took the opportunity to explore nearby Portsmouth, NH, where we hopped on a ferry to Star Island. The ferry ride itself was smooth and scenic, but Star Island was a dream—remote, peaceful, and stunning. It’s hard to describe how serene it feels to be out there, surrounded by nothing but the ocean, a few old buildings and rugged coastline.

Ogunquit is already shaping up to be an incredible place to explore, and we’re just getting started. There’s something about being on the road, discovering these hidden corners of the country, that just feels right.

Next stop is Portland, ME, Where we will be staying for over a month. Stay tuned for the next leg of our journey!
